Each year the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter Trust is required to raise approximately $1,200,000 from the community to operate our vital life saving service. Our funding partners provide much needed grants through their gaming machines to ensure we continue to operate our rescue helicopter service. This revenue comes through their venues which operate throughout the region.
The Trust is supported by various businesses in the community with products and services . Westpac through their annual Chopper Appeal in May, Summit Real Estate through various fundraising initiatives, Findex who provide all our accountancy services in kind and Nelson Bays Motor Group who provide us with a vehicle to ensure we have a presence at events and on the roads throughout the region.
Mitre 10 MEGA have been an avid supporter with various fundraising initiatives over the year. A more recent initiative was the ambitious Helicopter House Build which raised $142,000 for the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter Endowment Trust thanks to Nelson branch of New Zealand Certified Builders and all the businesses involved in donating products and services for the build.
This support not only helps us raise our profile in the community but contributes to our low cost of fundraising meaning donations go towards saving lives.

To save just one life, the Trust needs $3,500 of community funding to meet the shortfall. Alone, it may seem like a lot, but when people come together to regularly give, it costs very little to save one life. Regular donations are the best and easiest way to make a difference. They help us plan and budget for the future and ensure our crew remain ready to respond 24/7 365 days a year and helps safeguard the future of the service
